Brazilian finalist of the Miss World beauty pageant Mariana Bridi da Costa (20) had her hands and foot amputated. The procedure occurred after a urinary infection at the Serra Hospital in Espirito Santo. Septicemia set in her limbs stopped her circulation and the doctors were forced to amputate.

Mariana`s boyfriend Thiago Simoes told G1 that she fell ill in December, but was misdiagnosed with kidney stones. Seeing how the infection spread swiftly, Bridi decided to have more test and the surgeons were forced to amputate the damaged hands and feet in order to stop the infection from spreading, news.com.au writes.
