Paul Smith revealed that he is one of many designers who campaign London`s Portobello Road, in search of inspiration.
British fashion designer who attained a reputation by designing for men, Paul Smith told Vogue.com that designers from international fashion homes come to London`s Portobello Road to find guidelines for their new collections.
According to him, this is powerfully reflected on London themes during their fashion shows. Smith wanders around and buys small kitschy statues which he arranges in hi shop windows and emphasises that he finds interesting details like interesting pocket details for jackets of buttons.
- I'm off to Portobello today to get ideas. (I'm driving there in my black Mini Cooper, eating a scone and dictating this blog at the same time). I love going to the market at the beginning of the year to get inspired - though I'm hoping I'm not too early to see all my old friends there, maybe it's too cold for them - Paul Smith wrote for Vogue.com, who will be visiting Paris next week and meeting with Liberation editors. He will help edit the paper as a guest-editor on the day of Obama`s inauguration.
