The 2009 season of the 402 Street Race has been announced on Thursday at a press conference.

A press conference announced the 2009 season of the 402 Street Race. Street race is the most popular and biggest auto competition, which has been continuously present in Croatia since 2002.

The organisers expect over 350,000 attendants this season, just like in previous years of the competition. This year, street races will be held in five Croatian cities; Zadar (May 2 and 3), Zagreb (which will host them in May and September), Osijek (June), Varazdin (July 9 and Rijeka (August).

Street race in Cazma

Street races will open the preseason this weekend in Cazma, on April 18 and 19. The organisers have prepared an abundance of events and competitions so that the contestants can test their cars before the official start of the season and have a good time, aiding a charity event. In collaboration with the organisation “RTL helps children”, funds and donations will be raised for the blind children of Cakovec.

Beauties and octane beasts

This year, pretty girls will enrich the 402 Street Race. Some 30 beauties who will be chosen will be wearing the 402 colours during this year`s races and compete in the 402 Hot Models` Competition.

The press conference was held by Zvonimir Dasovic, Damir Biondic, Marko Daniel and Drazen Curic, Open Rally Challenge representative. The Open Rally Challenge will not be held this year due to an insufficient number of contestants. This is why collaboration with 402 Race has been established, according to Curic.

The 402 Street Race is the leading independent auto organisation in the region, for the seventh year after the first championship of Croatia, which closely collaborates with the Croatian Interior Ministry, Croatian Auto Club, Croatian Centre for Vehicles and the Faculty of Engineering and Ship construction, all with the goal of advancing the competition system and safety.
