AUTUMN/WINTER HAUTE COUTURE
JULY 8 2008 20:54h
Shine and glamour of old Hollywood glistened at the presentation of haute couture collections in Rome.
Combination of silk and fur, crystals and diamonds on evening gowns and fashion accessories, mini skirts in the 60`s Twiggy style and sandals with sculptural heels have marked the 2008/2009 haute couture autumn/winter collection of Gattinoni fashion home. 1950`s and 1960s film costumes, which made this fashion home famous when Rome was the Mecca of film production, glistened during Gattinoni`s fashion show in Rome. Luxurious dresses and suits that celebrate Ingrid Bergman and Audrey Hepburn at their most glamorous were painted bright red, turquoise blue, golden and silver – see them HERE.
The fashion home was founded by Fernanda Gattinoni, famous for refusing icons Coco Chanel so that she could return to homeland Italy from London and establish a brand of her own, which she has passionately cherished until her dying days. The home is now under the creative leadership of Guglielmo Mariotto, who has been supporting Fernanda`s believes for seasons: faith in elegance and disapproval of denudation in fashion – fake presentation of beauty and the garments.
Alta Roma Alta Moda presents evolution of style in maximum dosages of Italian haute couture, with collections by: Balestra, Curiel, Gattinoni, Riva and Sarli, as well as the younger generation: Ettore Bilotta and Michele Miglionico. It also includes guest from Lebanon – Edward Arsouni, Tony Ward and Abed Mahfouz, while editor of Italian Vogue France Sozzani carefully watches everything from the front row.
