PhotoAngry activists masked as rabbits gathered around Armani and his guests who were posing on the red carpet.
Angry rabbits tried to sabotage Armani’s ceremonial opening of his store on 5th Avenue in New York. This is how the glamorous celebration turned into a match between PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) activists masked as rabbits, and the well dressed celebrities there. If were remember a Monty Python film, we will be relieved to know that the rabbits did not spill the blood of their opponents. The following people posed on the red carpet there: New York’s mayor Michael Bloomberg and his wife Caroline, Victoria Beckham, Milla Jovovich, Liam Neeson, John Mayer, Chace Crawford etc.
The Italian designer prompted the activists to action when he did not keep his contract about giving up non the use of fur in his future collections, which he signed last year.
According to the New York Times, Armani told the press last year before showing his Priva collection at the Paris Fashion Week:
“There is no fur in the collection. Many years ago I actually made a declaration that I wouldn’t use fur. I used some fur in some recent collections, and the organization PETA, whom most of you are familiar with, discussed this particular issue, and presented some information to [me] and [I'm] not using fur in [my] collection” he said.
Hollywood stars such as Katie Holmes, Beyoncé, Penelope Cruz and Cate Blanchett are often seen on the red carpet in Armani’s creations. We will see who will provoke PETA’s anger on the red carpet in front of the Kodak Theatre on February 22, reports Vogue.
