Young Croatian designer Zoran Aragovic is proof that creative designers from Croatia can compete at the pretentious London scene.

-.--.-Photo which was included in `Color In Fashion` - Zoran Aragovic, BiteMyStyle.Young Croatian fashion designer Zoran Aragovic, who is behind the BiteMyStyle brand, was given a unique opportunity to present his collection at Alternative London Fashion Week in April 2009.

Zoran told us that he applied because he was persuaded by friend Nina Butkovic, who lives in London and works as a hair stylist. After sending a portfolio, he was soon notified that he was one of 60 designers who will present their colourful creations to the British audience. Croatian audience has had the opportunity of seeing his creations at Fashion Week and Osijek Fashion Incubator, while he was also a guest of the Budapest Fashion Week this year.

Croatian fashion events include everything but fashion

However, Zoran decided not to present his collections in Croatia and he turned to European audience. According to him, he is embittered with the situation in his homeland, because, as he put it, the organisation of such events is not on a level it should be, while the front row is occupied by an audience which has nothing to do with the world of fashion and design. He pointed out that it also lacks people from the industry, potential buyers.

- In Croatia, it has become everything but Fashion Week. Thus, in the end, designers can hardly cover the costs of presentations, let alone establish some serious business contacts and sell their collection. If I am given the opportunity, I would love to present my collection at Cro a Porter, I am not at all interested in anything else in Croatia – Zoran explained.

The designer whose colour schemes thrilled Macarena San Martin, who included two BiteMyStyle photos in her book `Color In Fashion` by popular publisher Maomao, says that presenting collections in London was a step forward in his career and a great opportunity to present himself to the yonder audience and establish good business contacts.

- I will present my 2009 spring/summer collection. It will be menswear and womenswear. A certain compilation of my work so far in one eclectic BiteMyStyle recognisable signature. The collection will continue the winter one, a bit rock-chic, more toned down, but more aggressive – Zoran announced, adding he would also launch a handbag collection on the runway.

Photo shoot with burlesque dancer Anita Barvin

Several weeks ago, Zoran was in London where he shot an editorial for the 2008/2009 winter collection.

- I decided on London, because I love this city very much, in my opinion, the fashion there is the sort of fashion I prefer when I design. People are not afraid to experiment with clothes there, they combine what is seemingly noncombinative and display their attitude through clothes. I think only London has this – versatile Aragovic said, who has even the best “Ethno Creation of Croatia” under his belt.

According to Zoran, the photo shoot was relaxed and creative. Nina Theheadresser (Nina Butkovic) -.-BiteMyStyle-.-Anita Barvinwas credited for the London touch, whose hairstyles and hats gave the story a vintage, retro look, and Issidora who took care of the make-up and photos. Burlesque dancer Anita Barvin jumped in as the model. You can take a look at behind the scene photos in the attached photo gallery: Burlesque Diva Anita Barvin For BiteMyStyle.

- We wanted the spirit of London to be felt in the photos and in a bit funny way – Zoran said, who is preparing for the Alternative London Fashion Week.
