PHOTO: Cannes Red Carpet Conquered by Designers

Actresses that walked the red carpet at this year’s 32nd Cannes Film Festival presented themselves in their best dresses.

Since the Cannes Film Festival is one of the most glamorous festivals in general, we are bringing you some of the glamour in our photo gallery. Actresses shone in creations of famous designers. The always beautiful Eva Longoria wore an evening dress from the Atelier Versace Spring 2009 collection, which looked somewhat like a wedding dress. 

Her colleague Abbie Cornish shoes Australia’s designer Toni Maticevski. Her dress nicely dragged on the carpet which created folds that gave a special touch to the light purple colour of the dress.

Perfect style for the first night, kitsch for the second 

Actress Elizabeth Banks on the first day of the festival shone in a red Armani dress from the Armani Prive Spring 2009 collection and made us believe she would give us more glamour on the red carpet, but the hope lasted for a short time.

The next day, to the regret of the public and fashion commentators, the actress chose a black Andrew GN Fall 2009 dress that bordered with kitsch.

In contrast, her colleague Aishwaraya Rai proved she had no problem with taste, so on the first day she chose a white Roberto Cavalli dress that revealed her shoulders and is only one of the bright points of this collection.

Her other choice, a light blue dress by Elie Saab Spring 2009 Couture, with a sleeve over one  shoulder, was also well-chosen, so we can establish that for now, her Cannes style is unflawed.

Robin Wright Penn thrilled the public 

Actress Robin Wright Penn, soon to be the ex-wife of Sean Penn, has a lot of experience with premiers, especially with those of her husband, as well as choosing clothes for them. She proved this in Canne where she was literally glowing. Her choice was an Elie Saab Fall 2007 Couture metallic silver dress and showed that many of her younger colleagues can envy her figure.

Silver-grey was the absolutely ‘in’ colour at this festival. Actress Devon Aoki, known for her role in Sin City, turned up in such a dress. The dress was designed by Alberta Ferretti and, like many others, this dress also had a sleeve over one shoulder.

The Cannes festival lasts until May 24 and we can hope that there will be a lot more glamour, many successful choices of dresses and suits, but also complete fashion flops without which the red carpet would be boring.
