PHOTO: Craziest Hats At Zagreb Race Track

The creation of Matija Vuica was named best hat and it was worn by Romana Tesic.

The Mediterranean Trotting Cup held at the Zagreb Race Track was up there next to the Kentucky Derby and Royal Ascot when it comes to crazy hats. The choice of best hat is an event exclusively linked with the race tracks throughout history. Visitors of all ages had the opportunity to join the competition because the awards were presented in several categories.

- The best hat choice is actually a fashion event which differs from Ladies` Day, which was held at the Zagreb Race Track 17 times already, and will be held again in September this year. The difference is that we do not choose the Lady of the Track, but the most attractive hat. At Ladies` Day, we have the rule as Ascot has, where the entire silhouette is observed, from head to toe – said organiser Inga Keller.

Best hats under the age of 10 were worn by Tigran Lucic and Helena Markulin, while the teenager with the best hat was Jana Tiralj. First place for the best hat among ladies went to Romana Tesic, second place to Marta Magic, while third was secured by Nina Kusen Tomljanovic. Diana Milin and Megi Daghi were awarded for their complete outfits in the `Hipodrom Touch` prize.

Romana Tesic was named the lady with the most beautiful hat, thus winning a weekend in the Mount Sljeme suite house Snow Queen for two. It was obvious that the hat`s designer, the first lady of Croatian Templars Matija Vuica, drew her inspiration from the medieval times.

- The hat is a mixture of English queen and eastern suit with these dangles and net lace. It was made especially for this occasion – Romana Tesic with the black piece of headwear told us.

Third-ranked Mina Kusan Tomljenovic regularly attends the track and she was persuaded by a girl friend to join the competition.

- This hat was made by an artists, but designer Mina Petra gave it to me. It is a Panama type of hat, completed with flowers and the rim is lifted – Mina Kusen Tomljanovic said, revealing that she has 4 hats at home, but her fetish does not lie there – she loves winter hats.
