PhotoThe doors to the home of late Versace, Italian fashion emperor, have been open to the public for the first time
Over ten years have passed since the death of Gianni Versace and the doors of his South Beach, Miami home have been opened to the public for the first time, as a local attraction for tourists. Current owner Peter Loftin has turned Casa Casuarina into a five-star private hotel and has envisioned a new concept. Tourists who pay a 50-dollar ticket by the end of September will get a chance to look inside.
- It`s too magical a place not to share with a wider audience - Loftin said.
Apart from interesting architecture and design details, you can see carved stone details like a Renaissance mosaic, a room that late Gianni had designed especially for Madonna and frescoes by Alden Freeman and Versace himself. Overnight stays at the Casa Casuarina cost from 1,200 to 3,995 dollars. The mansion was built in 1930 and Versace bought it in 1992 for 2.9 million dollars. The Italian fashion emperor was shot in front of his home by Andrew Cunanan in 1997.
