PhotoDesigners Ida and Mirna said that their fashion show `Fjaba´ presents a whole creative vision with music, styling and scenes.
“The name ‘fjaba’ means fairy tale, and all fairy tales have a happy ending” said Ida and Mirna, the fashion duo that are behind the name Fjaba.
The sisters Ida and Mirna Litovic started their fairy tale a long time ago through graphic and fashion design, and they decided to present their first professional collection to the public in 2006 at the Cro a Porter fashion show. Take a look at Ida and Mirna’s creations that use rich materials decorated with thousands of beads, glam-rock, and some trivial things that have grabbed the attention of the Croatian fashion scene HERE.
“We want to be faithful to ourselves, bring something special and interesting to the scene. A fashion show is never only showing pieces of clothing, it should be a real story, a ‘fjaba’ (fairy tale), in which music, styling and scenes present the whole creative vision” said the fashion duo, explaining the secret of their fashion cocktail.
Artificial fur – trend that does not kill
Their latest collection made for autumn/winter 2008/2009 that was presented at the Cro a Porter fashion show has already recognisably shone in glitter, necklaces, spiced up with a rocker-street image, but with fur that has been placed into the collection which is equal to the shiny materials. The glam-rock collection, homage to their numerous rock idols, from David Bowie to Iggy Pop and Billy Idol, is wrapped in a
artificial fur coat that keeps you warm and looks real, and as the designers stress, it “does not kill anyone”. Whilst they decided to include artificial fur and prove that you can be trendy and humane at the same time, the fur industry is growing. Jean Paul Gaultier, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry and Dior have all announced fur as an ultimate hit this winter, and in doing so forgotten that fake fur, as Fjaba says, can have its trend status without somebody killing for it.
When they had solved the problem of how to be trendy by example of the most influential names in the fashion industry, and at the same time remain human and offered something innovative for the Croatian market, problems did not stop for most Croatian designers, including Fjaba. Even though, according to their words, that Croatian design has become recognizable in the last few years, there is still the problem of manufacturing.
“We still hope that it is possible to live from this job, the problems are acquiring materials, making things by hand, etc…, but there are various positive things, because we do what we love and want” said the Fjaba duo, adding that we all enter a childhood dream from a fairytale with a happy end, and created a better world there.
