A lot is always expected and received from Gaultier and Galliano, but the real star of the Paris catwalk was the Briton Gareth Pugh.

After the Milan Fashion Week during which the media reported on the humble and calculated men’s collections which aim at the current needs of buyers, the fashion capital Paris said: If it’s a show, let there be a show. John Galliano traditionally implemented chorographical elements into his collection Reuters-.--.-A model displays a creation by British designer John Galliano as part of his Fall/Winter 2009/10 men`s collections during Paris Fashion Week January 23, 2009. for autumn/winter 2009/2010 and returned to the 18th century. Galliano also increased his manliness with suspender stockings that were clipped onto hairy legs – take a look for yourself in the photo gallery: John Galliano Autumn/Winter 2009/2010.

Jean Paul Gaultier prepared a family affair on the catwalk, and presented his creations for the youngest men. His vision of the fashion ideal with afro wigs on their heads was an inspiration from the 1960s, take a look in the photo gallery: Creations by Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris.

In Lanvin’s collection, the creative director of the label, Alber Elbaz, paid attention to details, tying silk scarves around the neck of the models and pressing the coats with belts in order to soften the silhouette – take a look at the photo gallery: Lanvin’s Men’s Collection at the Paris Fashion Week.

Gareth Pugh – the king of attraction

The collection that was certainly the most impatiently waited for was the first edition for men signed by Gareth Pugh. The young British designer (27) mesmerised fashion critics is a short period, and the British Vogue honoured him with titles like “his genius is undeniable”.

He also enchanted the head of the fashion world, the editor of the American Vogue, Anna Wintour, who support his work, and she was joined by Delphine Arnault. The daughter of Bernard Arnault, the owner of the LVMH empire, did not miss Pugh’s debut fashion show during the Paris Fashion Week. After Arnault enjoyed the treats for men that love to wear design that is a battle between light and darkness, in Paris’ “Palais de Tokyo”, rumours started that the avant-garde designer will soon embrace the company that owns Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Kenzo.

Whilst other designer have been caught in the jaws of recession, Pugh is enjoying the happy moments of his career. His spokesperson Mandi Lennard confirmed for Vogue.co.uk that an interest exists from LVMH, but that they have not yet spoken of the details.
