PHOTO: Hotel made of salt attracts 60,000 people

Text

This unusual hotel is built almost entirely out of bricks made out of salt. Still, this hotel contains everything you need for your stay.

More than 60,000 people a year visit a hotel made out of salt in Bolivia's Salar de Uyun. This hotel is almost entirely made out of salt bricks produced at a nearby salt field. Besides being interesting building material, salt is an excellent insulator because it retains heat very well during the cold nights.

The hotel workers gather salt every day and make bricks that are then used to renew the hotel. In spite of its unusual building material, this modest hotel has everything that one needs.

In addition to beds, kitchen and other necessary furniture, this salty hotel recently introduced electricity.

However, tens of thousands of tourists who visit it every year do not go there for luxury, but for the peculiarity of the building itself and many natural beauties of this part of Bolivia.

Cactuses and geysers

This area, in fact, is full of different kinds of cactuses, geysers, hot springs, volcanoes and picturesque ponds.

Many of this area’s beauties are breathtaking, which is not surprising because Mother Nature made this corner of the World really special.

In addition, since many ancient civilizations lived in this area, this region has a rich history too. Many of the residents still cherish the ancient customs in an attempt to preserve them and they offer a rich insight into the wealth of ancient world.
