Kate Moss inspired an artist to sculpt a gold statue of her worth 1.5 million dollars.

A massive gold statue of supermodel Kate Moss is called “Siren” and will be unveiled in London as part of an exhibition of modern artists at the British Museum in London.

The “Statuephilia” exhibition will be open from October 4 to January 25, 2009. The statue of the supermodel made by Marc Quinn is also the largest statue in the world made since the Egyptian times. It weighs 50 kilograms and is worth 1.5 million dollars.

- I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who's the ideal beauty of the moment – Quinn said.

Last year Kate Moss was Quinn’s model for the first sculpture “Myth (Sphinx)” that represents the icon of fashion doing yoga. It was made from bronze painted white. The title poses the question about the existence of something behind a perfect face and poses, which is what every artist has to escape from. Quinn achieved his goal. He represented Moss in a way that still allows for people to recognise her face.

Although artists do not often care for overrated supermodels, Kate Moss proved to be an exception in that world. She is only a commercial model, but that did not stop many artists to present her in their own way and so make her one of the most frequent motifs of British modern art.

Other artists could not resist the cult of her beauty either. Alex Katz Kate portrayed her for her simple and plain beauty that makes her so special. Gary Hume believes Kate is a real icon and he painted her with pleasure. Unfortunately, Lucian Freud portrayed her in a very strange and unrecognisable form. Julian Opie is known for his photographing techniques and then drawing out the simplest forms of the face and body. He says he regrets not using time better when he photographed Kate. Stella Vine presented Kate in an almost child-like fashion and Jurgen Teller fell in love with her body language and the way she represents herself as a model.
