PHOTO: Miss, Mister Candidates Do Not Know Opera

Text

The candidates revealed that most of them listen to folk. Tight after that is house and foreign hits, but they do not know about opera.

Ivona Perkov, the main choreographer for the Miss and Mister Croatia 2009 contest, is giving her all so that the choreography is perfect on Sunday for the finals. At the Principovac estate, near Ilok in eastern Croatia, the large party tent the contest will be held in has already been erected. This is the same tent that was blown away by the wind ten years ago, when the Porin was being held.

Take a look at the choreography being practiced in the PHOTO GALLERY.

During the five minute rest from the rehearsal, we asked the candidates what music they like to listen to.

When asked what the name of the first Croatian opera was, they sought the answer from one another with their looks, but nobody knew in the end. However, they do not hide the fact they listen to Croatian folk music, and they do not see anything disputed in it, because as they say, most young people listen to it today.
“I mainly listen to foreign and folk music” said Jure Bosnjak with a smile, with Leonarda Obradovic and Dora Markovic posing next to him whilst giving the statement.

Jure added that nobody complains about the music coming from their room, because it seems that folk music is the main favourite of all the candidates.

‘Snake and Frog’ can be heard in the hallways

Alen Dardalic also listens to folk music, as well as ordinary Croatian and foreign music. Because she is from Slavonski Brod, she also likes Slavonian songs. However, he also mentioned that despite many young people being in the same place, there are no parties inside the rooms. However, the candidates only mingle in their rooms during the day when they have a pause from rehearsing their choreography. Around 11pm they all need to be sleeping, which the security guards take care of with their regular patrols.

However, said Alen, the security guards from Bilic-Eric Security are all excellent towards everyone, and they do not have any problems with them. Tihana Nenadic also does not have problems with the security guards. She listens to house music, but is not bothered by the song ‘Snake and Frog’ echoing through the hallways, which has become, more or less, an anthem of the Miss and Mister Croatia 2009 contest.

Mario Ćužić-.--.-Even though most candidates can list all of the stars from Grade Parade, we were slightly shocked that nobody could list any Croatian operas, and they did not handle the situation well when a security guard whispered the name of probably the best known opera “Ero s onoga svijeta”.

Istrian does not like wine from Slavonia

Andreja Istrat somehow made up for that, even though she also knows nothing about Croatian operas. She told us how to make a traditional Istrian soup (supa).

“You need a litre of red wine, sugar, pepper and a little but of olive oil. You put toasted bread into it, and it is best eaten next to a fireplace and during a game of cards in Istria. But Slavonian wine does not go into it, not a chance” said Andreja. She added that her first choice in wine is always Malvasia.
