PHOTO: Miss World 2007 Pageant

China’s Zi Lin Zhang became the new Miss World 2007 in Sanya.

Miss China, Zi Lin Zhang, is this year’s winner of the Miss World pageant. A total of 106 girls took part in the pageant in the town of Sanya. 

Alongside Miss Dominican Republic, Miss China was the favourite. With her height of 182 centimetres she was also the tallest competitor.

When she introduced herself in shaky English, she said that in case she won, she would become the liaison between the Olympic Games and the Miss World organisation. She said she would use her position to help the poor, in contrast to prior Miss Worlds who all said they would fight for peace.

Some two billion people from more than 200 countries watched the pageant in live broadcast on their TV sets.

The first runner-up was Miss Angola and the second runner-up Miss Mexico.
