The boyfriend of the Brazilian miss appealed for help, because his girlfriend needs an urgent donation of the rare type O negative blood.

The boyfriend of Mariana Bridi da Costa, Miss Brazil, publicly appealed for help for his girlfriend who urgently needs a donation of the rare type O negative blood. He called potential donors to contact him, because her life is in danger.

“This is a desperately sad story and we are calling on potential donors to come forward and give blood” said Henrique Fontes, the president of the Miss Brazil competition.

After her hands and feet were amputated, Mariana was urgently operated on again on Wednesday.

Her state is critical and her family fear the worst, but believe that she will recover soon because she has always been a strong person and fighter in everything.

Mariana’s boyfriend Thiago Simoes said that she fell ill in December, but she was wrongly diagnosed with a kidney stone. Only later tests confirmed that she was infected with the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Considering the infection spread quickly, Bridi went to the hospital to make further tests, and the surgeons were forced to remove her damaged hands and foot in order to stop the infection from spreading.

Mariana was Miss Brazil in 2007, and at the Miss World competition she entered the final, and in the Miss Bikini competition in China the next year she took 5th position and was declared miss body.
