Zanetti’s naked Venus who only wore her hairstyle thrilled the audience, but also the jury.

Dreamy performances, body painting and dreamy hairstyles decorated Extra’s final selection for the best hairstyle of the year, held during the fifth international hairdresser festival, organised by Hair Style in Opatija.

In the finals, among 9 stylist teams, the title of best hairdresser in Croatia went to the Zanetti group from Zagreb. The owner, Ivica, caused a stir among the audience with his vanguard beautiful Venus, who only wore her hairstyle and almost invisible golden thong that melted on the body in combination with a little body paint.

Ivica Zanetti stated that, considering the high competition, he was flattered with the title. When asked how come he dared to undress his model in front of the audience, he answered that women are beautiful the way they are, and that the beauty of their body should be exhibited. He stressed that this is not a matter of undressing but of dressing a woman in art.

- This is pure art, this is pure vanguard, this is no undressing, this is dressing a woman in art. I was inspired by music and dance, this was something which stimulated my ideas. We hairdressers are dreamers and we simply have to express ourselves in a precise way – said Ivica Zanetti, who received loud applause.

Professional dancer, Tamara Despot, and model Ines Smit were Zanetti’s muses. They are his faithful costumers and when he asked them to be his models they accepted. When asked how much courage they needed to undress in the name of art which, unfortunately, Croatians often mix with eroticism, Nina answered that it took her a lot of courage to do something like that, but as she said – anything for victory.

- You need courage, but the hairstyle was the main issue. Having my hair done was pretty tiring and painful, considering that each lock of my hair had to be shrouded around these circles – said Nina, stressing the long and torturing job she went through, including the body painting.

The second prize went to the Kriss team, from Ivanic Grad, while the third place went to Mrs Elida Markovic, the only participant from Dalmatia with her woman-schoolgirl called “Born from the sea foam” (''Rođena iz morske pjene'').

The programme was enriched by the voices of Luka Nizetic and Marko Tolja, the presence of TV host Anja Alavanja, while Zlatan Zuhric and Nives Ivankovic added a spirit of humour in their roles of hairdressers.
