A Romanian woman gave birth to a baby girl, but she was sent home with a boy, Ananova writes.

Christina Zahariuc (35) from Horlesti, became aware her baby was switched when she was changing its diaper.

She said the baby was brought to her clothed and wrapped up so she never suspected a thing. It is when her friends and family gathered and she wanted to change the “girl”, that she was left in shock as she noticed her baby had a penis.

The hospital claims an error occurred because the two babies had similar surnames, Zahariuc and Zahari and were lying in cribs next to each other.

The hospital started an internal investigation straight away to find the person responsible for the mistake. The babies were finally placed in their real families.
