VIDEO: Interactive Toilet Makes a Splash

A mobile men's toilet which combines the usual facilities with video game interactivity is proving a winning novelty in Belgium.

It's being hailed, by at least some of its users, as the ultimate urinating experience: a toilet that combines playing with peeing.

Two Belgiums, Werner Dupont and Bart Geraets came up with the idea, appropriately, in a bar.

Co-creator, Bart Geraets and business partner Werner Dupont have this to say on the creation of the `Place to Pee`:

"We were drinking what while inventing this?''

''Beer, Trappist !''

''Trappist, best Belgium beer in the world...

There's a choice of pre-programmed games: from Pee2Ski to Space Invaders; there's even a chance to 'vote' for your favourite US presidential Democratic Party candidate.

The booth is designed to hold two people at the same time allowing player-users to compete with one another.

And it definitely helps to have a big beer-filled bladder a strong flow and a good aim to hit the sensors on the inside of the bowl are essential.

So how would the Belgium duo's invention go down with the public?

Conditions were perfect at the Arendonk music festival, where there were lots of people and lots of drinking.

Yonis, a 24-year-old festival goer from Berzel, said: "I thought I had peed before but since I used this cabinet I realised I have never peed before. This is the most incredible peeing of my life."

An instant hit with the boys - but what about the girls?

Two female Belgian festival goers, Eveli Jespers and Charlotte Heimans, said about the `Place to Pee.`:

"We can't play the game, no."

"We can't pee so far" (meaning that far)

"We can't pee so far!" (Laughs)

"It was gross."

Lacking a 'joystick' may have dampened their enthusiasm.

Even with the aid of a 'Urinelle', a cardboard cone which allows women to pee standing up, was a poor substitute for the real thing.

Dupont and Geraets admit they've missed the target with women, something they hope to redress, but they're determined to ensure their invention isn't just a flash in the pan.
