Grand Theft Auto IV may be a big hit but its not the only game in town!

Grand Theft Auto Four may turn out to be the blockbuster video game of the year with crowds turning out at midnight to get theirs, but it is far from the only game in town.

Nintendo has its own addition to the family-friendly Wii lineup this week with the Mario Kart Wii . The new Mario Bros. game brings with it a new steering wheel add-on to the popular Wii console.

Grand Theft Auto IV -- which runs on both Playstation 3 and XBox 360 consoles - revives the violent crime spree series in a more realistic urban setting called Liberty City. The title is projected to haul in up to $400 million in sales in its first week.

Nintendo, with it simpler more cartoon-like offerings, has found its own loyal fans as a counterpoint to the more violent themes of Grand Theft and Microsoft's recent Halo 3.

Nintendo's sales have caught fire. The company has shipped more than 24 million Wii systems worldwide- and has had to raise production to keep up with demand. The company's 4th quarter earnings were up 60 percent over the previous year.

According to market research firm NPD, which tracks gaming sales, in March Nintendo Wii sold 720,000 units, compared to 262,000 XBox 360s and 257,000 Playstation 3s.

Next up for Wii fans: the May 19th US release of Wii fit Nintendo's physical fitness game, already a hit in Japan with about 2 million units sold. And in the UK where it went on sale earlier this week, websites including Engadget and Amazon.com are reporting very strong sales.
