While men are not completely insensitive to the attractiveness of women, women have higher standards, a new study shows.
Women have much higher standards regarding having uncommitted sex than men who do not care about the way a woman looks as long as she is prepared to go to bed with them, a new study by the Brunel University shows, as published in the Living Nature journal.
For needs of the research, professor Achim Schutzwohl and his colleagues interviewed 400 male and 400 female students in Germany, the United States and Italy. They wanted to know what role physical attraction plays in dating and going off to bed with somebody.
Imaginary members of the opposite sex were ranked as a bit unattractive, moderately attractive and exceptionally attractive and the study has shown that looks affect men differently than it does women.
Men will very gladly accept uncommitted intercourse if the women in question are moderately or extremely attractive, but they are also not concerned if the women are a bit unattractive.
On the other hand, women will go to bed with exceptionally attractive men and will on very rare occasions do the same with men who belong to the “lower categories”.
While men are not completely insensitive to the attractiveness of women, women have higher standards, the authors of the research concluded.
