Beating Cro Cop would be a massive win for me. I know I’m in for a tough old fight. I’m not expecting a walkover by any means, Al Turk said.
Croatia’s Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic is preparing for his first UFC fight after two years and his defeat to Kongo. He will be challenged by a relatively unknown 36-year-old fighter, Mustapha Al Turk. The event will take place in Cologne on June 13 and Mirko is rather calm about it. On the other hand, Mustapha is rather excited.
‘I see this as a great opportunity to make a name for myself’
- My initial reaction was ‘Oh my God, I’ve got to change my strategy to fight a southpaw. It threw me a little to begin with. It hasn’t been a problem, though. There were slight difficulties adjusting from Duffee to Cro Cop, but I think we’ve got there in the end. I’m just looking to step up now and make the most out of the situation – Al Turk said for MMA Mania.
But although full of confidence and motive, Al Turk should not be a big problem for Filipovic. If he turns out to be, then it is better for the Croatian fighter to retire from ultimate fighting. Mustapha does not have much experience in MMA fights and he only fought once in the UFC and lost to Cheik Kongo as well. Mirko also has two defeats in three fights, but he does have much more experience in other federations.
- I see this as a great opportunity to make a name for myself. Beating Cro Cop would be a massive win for me. I know I’m in for a tough old fight. I’m not expecting a walkover by any means. I’m going to Germany to win. I’m confident my hand will be raised at the end of this fight – the Lebanese fighter announced.
