Bilic: This Is a Great Thing for Croatian Football

Bilic spent part of his carrier in England and he knows Tottenham’s game, and concluded that it is the right club for Luka.

The Croatian national football team in Austria and Switzerland will have Luka Modric, who is completely concentrated on football. The transaction question solved the problem, and he will no longer be bothered. Coach Slaven Bilic thinks that it is not so critical for him.

- Of course it is important, this can only be a plus, but anyone who knows Luka knows that this is not critical for him, that he would be ready and concentrated on the games which are ahead of us at the European Championship – said Bilic.

Bilic said that Croatia has to be happy with this transaction because this is a great thing for Modric and for Croatian football.

- Of course we can and we must be satisfied. This is a great thing both for Luka Modric and for Croatian football. This is at least clear to everyone. It is also a recognition to Dinamo which, within only one year, he supplied great English clubs with three players and were offered good money.

- Tottenham is an incredibly great club, there is no question about that, but here it is very important to stress that they do not give so much money for one player every day. This is a confirmation to the fact that – not only will Luka surely play – but also that he will be the club’s main player, and he is absolutely in condition to be so. And if I have to make a comparison, then Tottenham is a better option than Newcastle for this reason.

Ivankovic: Luka will be the coordinator of Tottenham’s game 

Branko Ivankovic made a lot to help Luka Modric become a great player when he was Dinamo’s trainer, and he surely deserves recognition for Modric’s success. Ivankovic considers this the greatest transaction in the club’s history.

- I am thrilled with this transfer, above all because I had the privilege to be his coach and I gave him a hand to improve. He went to a great English club which maybe has not had good results lately, apart from the one in the Carling Cup, but I am sure that they are on the right way to definitely stand along with Manchester Utd and Chelsea. Trainer Ramos is an extremely quality trainer and for this I am even more satisfied Modric has joined Tottenham. He is a Spaniard who loves the game and has all qualities, and I am sure that Luka will quickly fit in.

Dinamo will receive 26 million euros to cover the loss, which at the moment is a lot of money for whatever player.

- I must congratulate Mamic for the amount he managed to reach because, it is not that Modric is not worth that money, but who wants and can play that much in this moment? You see, there are not so many players on the market, a dozen the most.

- I am very satisfied because Tottenham is in the hands of trainer Ramos, who has already proved himself against Seville, and who insists on the game, and not on long balls, typical for the English. This is an advantage for Luka, as he has an excellent perspective of the game and passing, and I thing that he could become the coordinator of Tottenham’s game.

Luka will be presented to the supporters before the match against Bolton, and the five-year-contract will be signed after medical examinations.
