Bushes will attend Super Bowl, Clinton not
DALLAS, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Pre-Super Bowl happenings are attracting former presidents, ex-first ladies and a pair of former first twins, event insiders in Texas said.
Former first twin Barbara Bush convinced her parents, George W. and Laura Bush to attend a fundraiser Sunday for a charity she co-founded, and a lot of the talk was about the upcoming Super Bowl, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Sunday's event was held at the White Rock Lake mansion of Teresa and John Amend. Barbara and twin sister Jenna Hagar attended the fundraiser along with the former president and first lady.
While the goal was to raise money for Global Health Corps., much of the discussion was on the upcoming Super Bowl XLV to be played at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington on Sunday.
"It's been exciting being back in Dallas the week before the Super Bowl," Barbara Bush said. "Neither Jenna nor I can stay for the game. I've got to get back to work."
While George and Laura Bush plan to attend the game, former President Bill Clinton won't be able to make it.
Dallas Cowboys owner and president Jerry Jones invited Clinton to the game, but the former president reportedly asked for a rain check.
Even with all the football talk, the fundraiser was successful, Barbara Bush said. Some 600 people attended.
