After almost three-hour charter flight to Seville, Spain and a night spent in Lebreros hotel with other team participating in the European championship, Croatian national team had its first practice on Spanish soil.
“We felt the arena and the baskets a little. We’re still a little tired from the trip but after this practice and the one on Sunday I believe we’ll be ready for the opening game”, Damir Markota, one of the six players who will debut for the team in such a big competition, said.
Markota will confirm that the atmosphere in the team is great and that he doesn’t feel nervous. All he’s thinking about is to give his best and win the game. And while Markota played for the national team in the qualifications during last summer, Marin Rozic and Stanko Barac have never played for the NT in official game. Rozic admits there’s a slight nervousness.
“That positive nervousness. Everyone can’t wait for the Eurobasket to begin and to start accumulating those victories.”
Rozic was practically the last player to clinch his place in Jasmin Repesa’s team.
“I’m very happy to be among the 12 players but I hope my role doesn’t end there. Let’s just achieve good result, everything else is less important.”
What are the first impressions from Palacio Deportes San Pablo arena in the capital of Andalusia?
“The floor is OK and the baskets are a little hard but I come from Cibona so I’m used to that. We should worry too much about it; we must put our heads together and play the game the way we will agree”, Rozic concluded.
