Flyhalf Dan Carter will miss Saturday's Heineken Cup pool game between Perpignan and the Ospreys because of a slight Achilles tendon injury, his French club said on Tuesday.

"Dan didn't rupture his Achilles but the tendon is slightly inflamed. Dan needs some rest but it's not a serious injury", team doctor Carlos Vela was quoted as saying on the club's website.

New Zealand's Carter joined Perpignan on a six-month sabbatical last December following the All Blacks' tour of Britain and Ireland. He limped off the field at half-time during Perpignan's 40-14 win in the French championship last weekend.
