Chelsea, Roma Reach Champions League Last Eight

Roma enjoyed a 2-1 win over Real Madrid after a superb performance at the Bernabeu.

Chelsea reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the fourth time in five years with a 3-0 rout of Olympiakos Piraeus at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Goals from Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard and Salomon Kalou, his first in Europe's premier club competition, sent Chelsea through after a goalless first leg in Greece a fortnight ago.

Porto, the 2004 winners, and German side Schalke 04 were playing extra time at the Dragao stadium after Lisandro's 86th-minute goal gave Porto a 1-0 lead on the night to level the tie at 1-1 on aggregate.

The home side, looking for their first win in four meetings with Schalke, had left back Fucile sent off four minutes earlier for a rash challenge on Halil Altintop.

Liverpool, who have a 2-0 first-leg advantage over Inter Milan, visit the Italian champions next Tuesday in the battle for the final berth in the quarter-finals.
