COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Adreian Payne's 15 points Saturday helped 12th-ranked Michigan State hand No. 3 Ohio State its first home loss in nearly two years, 58-48.

Keith Appling contributed 14 points, while Draymond Green added 12 with nine rebounds as Michigan State (20-5, 9-3 Big Ten) pulled into a tie with the Buckeyes atop the Big Ten Conference standings.

The Spartans used a stifling defense to hold Ohio State to 26.4 percent from the floor, including just 2-for-15 mark from 3-point range.

Jared Sullinger hauled down a season-high 16 rebounds to go with 17 points for the Buckeyes (21-4, 9-3), but he also committed 10 turnovers in the setback -- the Buckeyes' first in Columbus since Feb. 17, 2010.

Aaron Craft provided 15 points as the Buckeyes saw their 39-game home win streak end.
