ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Mark Ingram scored a pair of first-half touchdowns and No. 18 Alabama cruised to a convincing 49-7 victory over No. 7 Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl.

Ingram's first score 8:25 into the game put the Crimson Tide (10-3) ahead for good at 7-0, while his second -- a 6-yard scoring run -- highlighted a 21-point, second-quarter outburst that gave Alabama a 28-0 halftime lead.

Ingram racked up 59 yards on 12 carries and had one catch for 30 yards before exiting in the second half after suffering a high ankle sprain.

Greg McElroy went 13-of-17 passing for 220 yards and a touchdown, Marquis Maze made four grabs for 77 yards and a touchdown and Julio Jones collected three passes for 49 yards and ran in a touchdown for the victors.

The Spartans (11-2) suffered a disappointing end to their season as Kirk Cousins tossed for 120 yards on 10-of-18 passes with an interception before leaving the game with a rib injury.
