Mirko Filipovic decided to put an end to the provocations of Alistair Overeem, challenging him for a match in his basement.
Alistair Overeem could choke on everything he said after a challenge by Croatia’s ultimate fighter Mirko ‘Cro cop’ Filipovic who has got sick and tired of the German’s provocations. After Overeem again slammed Filipovic, accusing him of avoiding entering the ring with him, Mirko challenged him in a fight in the basement of his home in Zagreb.
- So it does not look like I fear him, Overeem will have to wait for the New Year or some other date in the next year to fight me. If he doesn’t believe me that I’m not the person who chooses my opponents and that my organisation “Dream” does not want us to enter the ring on New Year’s, I invite him to come to Zagreb the following weekend and we will fight in my ring, with neutral referees. We will also organise accommodation for him and his team and the local television will broadcast the fight live which will be able to seen throughout the world on the Internet – Mirko told Sportal.
Cro Cop added he wanted to stop the media squabbles and that the two men should solve their differences in the ring. Mirko, thus, threw the gauntlet and it is up to Overeem to prove if he as the courage or just likes to talk.
- If Overeem does not turn up on Saturday, December 6, in my hall in Zagreb, let him not even mention me until our next duel. He has the opportunity to put his fist where his mouth is in a match that will not be paid. We will fight for honour, so let everybody stand behind their own words – Filipovic said.
If Overeem agrees to the match, it will be a true spectacle and Mirko will have to show that he can still fight.
