Croatian handball team secure further progress in the World Handball Championships, grinding Russia with a result 32-27.
Croatia commenced Monday’s game with an excellent defence and the Russians could not keep up with its 3-2-1 attack formation. But Croatians were also having trouble with Russia’s assault. After six minutes into the game, Croatia was leading 2-1.
After an even result, Metlicic and Vori made a break for the first significant lead for the Croatians. With a series of three goals, the result broke at 7-3. The biggest advantage was at 12-6, when coach Lino Cervar decided to rest his best players. The Russians used this and decreased the advantage to 31-11.
Before half-time, the Croatian team managed to increase the difference to 16-11.
IN the second half, the Russians seemed to have woken up and decreased Croatia’s advantage to 17-15 with the help of goalie Kostygov. But, Mirza Dzomba hit the goal twice, returning the +4 advantage to the Croatians.
The game proceeded with Lackovic, Vukovic and Dzomba striking at the Russian’s goal to an end result of 31-27.
