CHICAGO, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- The Chicago Blackhawks picked up center Brendan Morrison from Calgary Friday night in exchange for a minor leaguer.

Morrison will bolster the Blackhawks second line and allow Patrick Kane to settle in at the wing, the Chicago Tribune said Saturday.

"He has been a point producer in the past and he also has shown versatility recently to be able to play different roles on a team," general manager Stan Bowman said.

Bowman sent defenseman Brian Connelly to the Flames in exchange for Morrison, who has played in the NHL 14 years and scored his 200th goal and 600th point earlier this season. He missed part of the season with a knee injury but has pronounced himself fully recovered.
