High Jumper Vlasic Celebrates 203 Cm In Rijeka

Blanka Vlasic did not expect such a success, because she managed only 196 cm at practice.

Croatian athlete Blanka Vlasic is the winner of the first edition of the International Indoor High Jump meeting in Rijeka, jumping 203 centimetres, which is the best jump of the season in the world.

By jumping 203 cm at her first meeting of the season, Blanka has sent out a clear message to her rivals, stating she will continue to rule the world`s altitudes this season as well. The Split girl jumped 203 cm from her second attempts, while she attempted to jump the new Croatian indoor record, 206 cm twice, but failed.

Second and third place with 198 cm

- I didn`t jump over 196 cm in the past 15 days at practice, it was a traumatic experience and this is a surprise for everyone, even myself. It seems that I required a bit of freshness and rest, while this result is an indicator that I worked well these three to four months. I`m pleased with my first attempt of 206 cm. Last season, I jumped 201 at the start of the season and this is really an excellent way to start the year – Blanka told Croatian Television.

Second and third place went to Russian Svetlana Skokina and Viktoria Slivka-Kljugina with 198 cm.
