If you're not 100 percent up to it it's hard. I never do anything half-heartedly. We didn't make it to the World Cup.
Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Thursday spoke out for the first time about his doubts on his international future, saying he wasn't sure he was motivated enough to play for the squad.
Asked by Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet whether he would be quitting the national team, the 28-year-old who currently plays for Barcelona replied - I haven't decided yet - insisting his decision had nothing to do with the arrival of new Sweden coach Erik Hamren.
- It's a combination of a lot of reasons. My family, my body ... and you have to be able to give 100 percent every time you play for the national squad, that's why you're there - he said in the newspaper's online edition.
- If you're not 100 percent up to it it's hard. I never do anything half-heartedly. We didn't make it to the World Cup. That's affected me. When's the next important match? In a year? We'll see - he said.
Sweden failed to reach the World Cup finals in South Africa next summer.
Hamren announced earlier this week that Ibrahimovic, who has scored 22 goals in 62 games, was not part of his 24-man squad to face Italy in a November 18 friendly after Ibrahimovic told him he would not be available for play because of his doubts.
