After the first leg of the giant slalom in Zwiesel, Julia Mancuso is in the lead. Ana Jelusic did not make it to the second leg.
The start of the race was delayed 30 minutes because of snow and fog, which posed a problem in the central part of the course. The American Julia Mancuso made excellent use of her start number one and finished first in the first leg, with a 0.16 advantage over the Finnish skier Poutiainen. The Austrian Michaela Kirchgasser was in the third place. The overall world ranking will remain interesting after this race, as there is a 29 point difference between the top four skiers. Ana Jelusic did not make it to the second leg because she was 2.32 seconds behind, which was not enough to be among the top 30. It is a pity for Ana because she was only 0.72 seconds behind in the central part. The other leg begins at 13:15 h.
