Ljubicic: I Did Not Feel Well

Text

Ivan Ljubicic was dissatisfied with his game after the victory over Stefan Koubek 7-6, 6-7. 6-4.

More difficult than expected, Ivan Ljubicic came through to the quarterfinals of PBZ Zagreb Indoors, winning in a re-run of the last year`s finals with Stefan Koubek.

-This was a hard match, he made few mistakes and I served excellently. We both did a great job of what we were best at. I did not feel the ball in the best way and because of that I could not be aggressive from the main line.

In the eve of this match, Ljubo spoke a lot of his lost confidence, and this victory is a part of its return.

-Confidence is not gained with playing, but winning. This is a detail which means a lot in the return of confidence. It is difficult for someone to beat me when I serve this well.

Probably everyone wonders if Ivan is tired, but he does not admit that as a justification.

-I am not tired at all, as every other player because we are prepared to play five sets after the Australian Open. Maybe I am tired a bit, but I will recover by Friday.

I the quarterfinals, his opponent will be his great friend Thomas Johansson.

-I know him quite well, we are great friends outside the court. If he serves the way he can, another difficult match follows. He is the only Grand Slam winner in the lot and this fact should be respected. I hope to play and serve well and then I have great chances of beating him. The surface agrees with the both of us.
