With his victory over Oliver Rochus, Croatia’s Ivan ljubicic made it to the quarter finals of the Rotterdam tournament.
Ivan won the match with an excellent game after the serve, but also a smart game from the court. From the start he imposed his own rhythm and did not offer Rochus easy points to his serve and exerted pressure on him from the start. In the first set, Ivan’s break point was vital, while Rochus did not exploit his chances. It was similar in the second set, but this time the tie break was decisive. Ljubicic was dominant throughout the match, especially on his first serve where, out of the possible 45 points, he won 42 and achieved as many as 26 aces.
-- I am content with my game. I have no complaints about my serve and I served well from the beginning. I understand the fear in the eyes of those who sat court-side – Ivan joked.
In the Rotterdam quarter finals he will play Florian Mayer about whom he says has played excellently in the second round, adding that the match would be extremely difficult.
Marin Cilic was defeated at the Challenger tournament in France from French player Tsonga 2-1 in sets.
