Manning not cleared by Colts' doctors

INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The owner of the Indianapolis Colts said Friday Peyton Manning has not yet been cleared to return and play for the team.

USA Today reported Manning has been cleared by the doctor who performed his neck surgery in September, but he has not yet been cleared by the Colts' doctors.

"Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for The Indianapolis Colts," Colts owner Jim Irsay posted to his Twitter account early Friday. "Team statement coming on Friday."

The announcement came amid rumors that Manning may not return to the team next year, even if he is cleared to play. The Colts have the first pick in April's draft and are expected to pick up Stanford University quarterback Andrew Luck.
