John McEnroe asks for the tennis season to last nine months.

Tennis legend John McEnroe says that the current tennis season lasts too long, that 11 months, from January until the end of November, is too long and that the season should last nine months at the most.

- I am advocating a season that lasts eight months, nine at the most. There should be no tennis season in November, December, and January. The Australian Open should be shifted to March as the start of the season – said McEnroe.

The former number one believes that there are too many tournaments, but also expresses dissatisfaction over the part of the season played on grass being too short.

- There should be a week or two between the French Open and Wimbledon so that players can adjust to grass – McEnroe concluded.
