Thanks to great luck, we gained two points which is the most important, but it wont be like that against stronger teams, said Lino Cervar.
One day after Croatia’s handball match against Korea, a press conference was held at the “La Meridian” hotel, at which were present: coach Lino Cervar, Ivan Cupic and captain Petar Metlicic.
“Before all I thank the delightful Split public that carried us with their fantastic cheering, and we managed to pull through some crisis moments in the match, amongst other things, thanks to them. As far as the match is concerned, I have to say that I am not too happy. Only thanks to great luck did we manage to get two points, which is the most important in the end, but we must know that with this game we certainly will not occur against stronger teams such as Sweden and Spain. We have to gather our ranks, carefully analyse everything, all learn something from this match. I am happy that Pero was the one that showed the captain’s responsibility, and despite trying to find real game-play throughout the match, he proved himself the most when it was necessary. As far as Ivano Balic is concerned, he was anchored, he took to the line and he did not go forward, which is not good” said Lino Cervar.
Petar has a souvenir on his nose
Petar Metlicic was the next to speak, who had a visible souvenir on his nose, which reminds him of the match with South Korea.
“What to say, I am not happy with the way I played. I searched for myself the whole match. I am happy that I achieved the last goals, but I have the feeling that I still lack some spirit, even though I train well, I feel good, but something is still not good in my game. I hope that in the next matches everything will come together. Even though, I must admit that for European teams, Korea is not an easy team to play against. They appear like a strict army. I attended their warm-up, that is scary, they yell, shout at every move, act like soldiers. Now a new match awaits us tomorrow, I hope that we will function a lot better, and the Koreans could surprise some of the favourites” said the “wounded” captain of the Croatian national handball team.
