If they want to bring in Olic in January, Middlesbrough will have to pay compensation to HSV or wait for the summer.
English Premiership club Middlesbrough is negotiating with Hamburg attacker Ivica Olic.
Boro has offered a hefty sum, which out tops all previous bids from big clubs like Juventus. Croatia international Olic has already refused to sign a new contract with HSV and is free to make a pre-contract after New Years.
Middlesbrough has the option of waiting for Olic until the summer, when he will be a free player, or offer Hamburg compensation which could annul the current contract he has with the club.
