`A.C. Milan announces that Alessandro Nesta will go under the knife tomorrow morning,` the Serie A club said in a statement.
The former Italy international, 32, has not played this season having managed 29 league games last term and just 14 the season before with continuing niggles.

Milan had hoped a rehabilitation stint in the United States had cured his back problems but he broke down again last week.
David Beckham, who limped out of Sunday's 2-1 defeat by Inter Milan with a calf injury, has been named in the squad for Wednesday's UEFA Cup last 32 first leg at Werder Bremen but Kaka is again out with a foot problem.
