NBA: Boston 91, New York 89

BOSTON, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Paul Pierce scored 30 points and Ray Allen keyed a fourth-quarter rally Friday that resulted in the Boston Celtics' 91-89 victory over New York.

Pierce made 10-of-12 shots from the foul line, but one of his misses came with 5 seconds to go and left the Celtics with a two-point lead.

New York's Steve Novak then misfired on his turnaround jump shot just before the buzzer, leaving Boston with its third straight win. The Celtics have defeated the Knicks in Boston 10 straight times.

The Celtics trailed by as many as 11 in the third period but held New York to 17 points in the final quarter. Allen scored seven of his 14 in the last 12 minutes.

Kevin Garnett added 15 points and eight rebounds for Boston and Rajon Rondo had seven points in his return to the lineup. Rondo had missed eight games with an injury to his right wrist.

Carmelo Anthony had 26 points for the Knicks, who haven't won in Boston since Nov. 24, 2006.
