Nicole Gius: Snow Queen Is The Best In The World

This is the best race in the World Cup, by far. It has never been this good, anywhere in the world, as it has in Zagreb, Nicole Gius claims.

It is hard to draw attention after Alberto Tomba, but seeing how the women`s slalom race in scheduled first, female skiers were welcomed, much to the delight of the hotel staff. Another skiing surprise arrived from Italy, Nicole Gius, with a constant smile on her face and full of praise for the Mount Sljeme race.

The Italian sees Sljeme as the best race in the world of skiing

- This is the best race in the World Cup, by far, everything is at the highest possible level and I truly look forward to coming here every time. It has never been this good, anywhere in the world, as it has in Zagreb – Nicole described her impressions, as sweets were dropping from her mouth.

Seeing how she has been troubled by injuries over the past few months, she does not expect a lot, success would be to qualify among the ten best skiers. Nevertheless, she can hardly wait to ski, mostly because she loves the atmosphere of the Zagreb audience.

- Fans in Zagreb are perfect, they cheer the entire time and I can`t describe how I love to ski and hear the constant cheers and support. This never happens anywhere else and all my colleagues have the same impression. We are not used to such a thing, this is something like the sort of cheering I see on football matches – Nicole praised the Sljeme audience, a view long since shared by Janica Kostelic and her brother Ivica.

With less excitement, loveable Slovene Spela Podrekar arrived at the hotel, full of beautiful hostesses. Podrekar is not a well famous skier, but was exceptionally in the mood. However, her expectations were lower than Nicole`s. Still, amidst poor Slovenia-Croatian relations, she said something which had to put politics in the foreground.

- I hope I will ski well, like all my colleagues from Slovenia, but I want one of the Croatian girls to win the Snow Queen Trophy. Zagreb deserves this because of supreme organisation and atmosphere. Such a joy would be a great present for the holidays – said the bit sheepish Slovene girl, with a smile on her face, clearly not used to such a treatment.

If the initial impressions of the skiers and Alberto Tomba if something to go by, then everyone responsible for the race can be very proud, because the project has succeeded and despite criticism of vicious people, the Snow Queen Trophy hit bull`s eye. It stands for everything skiing in Croatia has to offer. We are all looking forward to the start of the races, as well as the continuation of tradition of one of the best races in the World Cup.
