SQUARES AND HORNS IN STREET
FEBRUARY 2 2009 07:32h
Fans of the Croatian handball team are the eighth player. Of course, cheering in the streets is just as good as in the competition venue.
Those who were not fortunate enough to sit in the stands during the final match of the World Handball Championship equipped themselves with cheering props, watching the game from their favourite café, at home with friends or in other main squares in their cities.
Supporting fever caught every single corner of Croatia, so all streets in cities, villages and quarters
were in the sign of mandatory red and white squares or blue kits with the names of the Cowboys, hats and horns.
Streets painted red and white
Croatian fans are famous in the world, just as the Croatian handball team, which they support. They are usually counted as the extra player, who will leave their heart on the stands, just as the players will leave their heart on the court.
Chanting from the stands takes the limelight away from the commentators, while anthem-like calls of certain players with accompanying songs can explain what is currently going on down on the court, even if you are not watching the broadcast, but just listening to it.
