Mario started the match excellently and took the serve from the Slovak player, but then he lost focus and made too many mistakes.

In front of some 3,000 people in Zagreb’s Dom sportova hall, Croatia’s tennis player Mario Ancic managed to win over Slovakia’s Lukas Lacko in a very dramatic game. He won the match with a result of 6:4, 6:7, 7:5.

Excellent start of the match Mario Ćužić-.--.-

Ancic started the match excellently and immediately took the serve from the Slovak. He had another opportunity to take Lacko’s serve, but he failed to use two break points at a result of 5:3. Lacko had no chance of jeopardising Ancic’s serve because each time Mario served Lukas would win a maximum of one point and this would happen each time Mario would make an unforced mistake.

Mario lost his focus

Mario started the second set as he did the first, He took the serve from the Slovak an led 1:0. It all seemed to be going fine until the result of 4:3 when Ancic made mistakes on his serves. It was evident that he had lost his concentration, but in the next game he had an opportunity to get back his lost serve, but failed and the Slovak tennis player took the lead at 5:4.

When the score was even at 5:5, the Slovak took  the next game and so did Ancic, so they had a tie-break. Neither of them made a mistake in serving until Lacko got to a result of 7:6 when Ancic sent the ball outside of the court and lost the set..

In the third set Mario did not manage to make a break. He lost his nerve and threw his racket. Lukas was close to taking the serve at the result of 4:4, but he did not know how to use three game balls, so everything was decided after the result was equalised. The Croatian player solved everything with a strong serve and took the lead at 5:4. Mario managed to realise a break in the 12th game of the third set. He used the match point and won the match.
