Croatia’s tennis player Marin Cilic defeated France’s Arnaud Clement with ease in a match that resulted in 6:4 6:3 in the first round of the PBZ Indoors tournament in Croatia. Marin took away Clement’s serve three times and even though he could have done more, that was sufficient. Cilic had small problems with the first serve, but he compensated with an excellent game.
One “Break” was enough for Cilic to win the first set. In the first game Cilic had the opportunity to take away Clement’s serve, but after the third advantage, the Frenchman still won the first game. Maric equalised to 1:1 with ease, only to again take Clement’s serve and get a lead of 3:1. Arnaud just could find no way to jeopardise Cilic’s serve and the Croatian player have regular headaches to Clement who saved his serve after an equal score. With a lead of 5:4, Marin had the serve and was losing 0:30. But with his excellent serve, he got four points in a row and won the first set 6:4.
Second set
The French player had a chance to take away Cilic’s serve in the second set. Clement had advantagem but Cilic did not allow himself to be surprised, so he managed to win the game with three excellent strikes. Marin had a little trouble with his serve, he just was not playing as well as in the first set, but his game was good enough to keep up with Clement. In the seventh game of the second set and with a result of 3:3, Cilic managed to reach 0:40 and force Clement to send the ball into the net, thus losing his serve.
After the break, the young Croatian player became more confident and began playing as he did in the first set. He let Clement have only one point and then took the lead with 5:3. For the end of the match, Cilic once again took away Clement’s serve who just could not find a way to stop the young Croatian.
