Macedonian player Kiril Lazarov scored 92 goals at the 2009 World Handball Championship, becoming the best striker in the world.

After historic success of 92 scored goals at the 2009 World Handball Championship, Kiril Lazarov faced Croatian reporters and gave a statement. Without being too modest, he said he was proud of his success and the team`s accomplishment.

- I`m very proud and happy with what we did at this World Championship as a team and without being too modest about it, I am proud to be the best scorer in history. I would like to thank all my teammates, above all, because they contributed to my success and the success of the entire team – Lazarov said.

He is aware that the team played well, apart from being aware of the flaws he contributed to inexperience. This will surely chance with time.

- We surprised the entire world with our game. We didn`t embarrass ourselves against anyone. We usually ran the fame and had positive results, but we were away from the scene for ten years and don`t have experience at big competitions, so we dropped mentally and physically after 40 minutes – Macedonia`s best handball player explained.

Of course, he did not forget to thank his supporters, who accompanied the squad at all matches, and he did not forget to thank the hosts of the championship, Croatia. This is why he invited his fellow countrymen to visit the Adriatic Sea in the summer.

- I`m glad that we elevated handball to the national level in Macedonia and that handball has become the number one sport in Macedonia. Above all, I am glad that my Macedonians cheer with my Croats together these days, that they socialised and sang from Varazdin, Zadar and Zagreb. I hope they won`t be wondering where to go on their summer holiday, not in Greece or Turkey, but that they will come visit my Croats in the Adriatic, continue their friendship and make it deeper between our people – the best striker in the world concluded, like a true diplomat.

If the euphoria which has caught men`s and women`s handball continues in Macedonia, this team might realise significant results at the next championships already.
