The best swimmer of all time, as well as the most successful Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, has returned to swimming more than a month ago, for the first time after Beijing. He swam at two contests in America, and his win was not seen at both, but his losses were, as well as the moustache he has recently been wearing.
Aaron Peirsol beat Phelps at a competition in Charlotte in 100m backstroke. This is the only thing people remembered. At the competition in Santa Clara, people remembered something else, and it was not a win. The moustache that Phelps has grown are in question.
His new image makes him look older and more serious, and he now looks like his idol Mark Spitz. Mark won seven gold medals at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games and kept his record until last year, when Phelps came back from Beijing with eight.
Maybe the best wear moustaches, maybe he is copying his idol, or maybe it is a trick that Phelps had to carry out to avoid curious looks after the marijuana affair, for which he received a three month ban from swimming competitions.
Take a look at how the best swimmer of all time looks like with a moustache in the photo gallery: Phelps Grows Moustache Like Spitz.
