PSV defence player Alex injured his adductor muscle and will miss the rest of the season.
Alex, who has recently been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool, injured himself during the championship match against Excelsior that ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Brazilian scored a goal against Arsenal in London that took the English out of the competition, but he will now miss the duel against the other great English club, Liverpool.
However, this is not the only problem PSV is currently facing. Arouna Kone will also most likely miss the first game of the Champions League quarter-finals because he injured his knee ligaments. He will be back in the team in three to four weeks.
PSV is currently the leading team in the Dutch league, with 67 points six legs before the end. They have an eight point advantage over the second and third teams, AZ and Ajax.
